The Chester County Commissioners established the Chester County Solid Waste Authority (CCSWA) in August 1984. In September 1984, the CCSWA became owner and operator of the Lanchester Landfill, a 600-acre property located in Honey Brook, Salisbury, and Caernarvon townships that includes 160 acres of landfills.
Composition of the Authority
CCSWA is comprised of volunteer Chester County business persons and one representative from Caernarvon Township, Lancaster County. All members of the Authority serve without compensation or benefits.
Maintaining Public Awareness
The CCSWA holds monthly public meetings where current projects and developments are discussed. The Authority also conducts educational presentations about Lanchester for community groups, schools, businesses, and professional organizations.
